CHAPEL DOORS....

Saturday morning in the Inn with two of my favorite people.  My cousin Bruce Nickel drove over on his motorcycle to visit for a bit.  Patty Bowen is our breakfast representative at the Inn, good friends, good memories.  Thank's for the picture Bruce and Patty!
After we completed our laundry etc. on Saturday we drove to the Phelps Arts Center in Phelps, New York.  We saw awesome displays of a toothpick exhibit created by Stan Monro.  He has his work online and it is absolutely fascinating.
The Salt Lake Temple in toothpicks!

The Arts center is in this beautiful old church.  The chapel doors open to the world as you enter and see all the architectural structures Mr. Monro has built to scale with toothpicks.

The museum director told us of another Art Center in Clifton Springs, New York.  We were headed that way when we saw the Foster Cottage Museum.  We stopped and toured it instead.  It is the former residence of Henry Foster.  He was the main doctor for "fireproof" The San, the Sanitarium building next door to his home.  The former hospital is now The Spa Apartments and a new holistic hospital was built behind it.  The former hospital was known for their therapeutic sulphur water treatments.  The brook that flows through the property is a sulphur brook.  "This source of the historic "Water Cure" and modern-day sulphur baths then flows beneath Main Street and The Foster Block.  There is a walking trail that connects the Labyrinth with downtown.
If you can open this picture larger, please read Foster's testimony of his work as a doctor.
This good nurse is in one of the many rooms in the museum.

The Spa Apartments have a beautiful Chapel within the heart of the former hospital.  The main doors to the entry of the beautiful building are in the center of the porch.
This is the side view of this magnificent complex
The porch on this building is massive.
A sweet resident took us into the building and she had a key to the chapel doors.  We saw the  beautiful period organ that has recently been installed.
This beautiful mosaic of The Last Supper is above the alter
This beautiful painting  of The Madonna & The Son is in the entry way of the building.
The outside gardens and sulphur brook are beautiful.
The brook has a walkway for the patients and residents and visitors.
The pond has goldfish, ducks and two trumpeter swans...so pretty.
Trumpeter swans mate for life...
They swim through all the stress of life together.   This must be even better in sulphur water.
A place to sit and enjoy the garden.
The Labyrinth rescues all who enter this garden and bring us back into a world of health and peace.  We must visit this garden again soon.

NEW SUNDAY SCHOOL ASSIGNMENT
"Come, Follow Me"
The Lord had the Bishopric call us to be Sunday School Teachers to the 14-18 year old Youth.  We are depending on The Savior's love for these youth.  We pray we can help them to choose to follow Jesus Christ and His teachings.  Bishop Scanlon set Elder Bushman apart and Brother Moss set me apart.
So....here we go into The Cortland Sunday School Labyrinth!
"The Chapel Doors seem to say to me...Shhhh Be Still!"

We got to the temple at 7:15 am  this morning to get pictures taken of all the temple missionaries and the temple presidency.  That will be a great keepsake.  So it's a Monday and Elder Bushman is bored...what to do?  He phoned Elder Christensen & asked if we could go on a bike ride with them.  Not only did I remember how to ride a bike, but it was so fun.  We went on the path of the Erie Canal.
We stopped to look at the bridge and the beauties around us.  This is Art with Verl & Peggy Christensen.  They are farmers from Idaho and parents of 8 children!
 Love this scene.
I rode the old fashioned bike.  The rest had gears to use.  I just needed Sarah's dog cupcake to put in my basket and I could have been complete!
A tug boat passed quietly along as we were riding by this clearing.
Wild flowers were all along the pathway.
An overflow made for a beautiful waterfall.  There was a man fishing on the bank.
We went to the Yellow Mill for our dinner with the Christensens.  After all, biking improves the appetite, right?  Then we went to The Hill Cumorah for our home evening with the new Site President Stewart and his wife.  They taught the missionaries to learn to look for the Chiastic Parallelism in the Book of Mormon... > It represents 1/2 of an X...and can open "the doors" to our understanding of the Hebrew Biblical Poetry.
So let the Book of Mormon become a key to our understanding
The Chapel Doors can be opened through the key of understanding the Book of Mormon!

We understand our Oklahoma Hidy Hole experienced a 4.2 earthquake on Tuesday Morning.
The epicenter was at liberty lake in Guthrie.  "Shake Rattle & Roll"

Happy Birthday to Cannon Elwin Bushman...our 7 year old Grandson.  This is first day of school for our Oklahoma Grandchildren.  Whoo Hoo...Shhhh Be Still!
